Weaning with Sami

We started with weaning when our baby boy was just over 5 months. H was born on 42 weeks +2 days so he was more than ready to start with solids. First we tried cooked & liquidised apples and he loved it. He couldn't get enough of them. Then we introduced baby rice and he wasn't very impressed by it. We mixed it with different fruits and it was the winner.

Sami's first taste of solid food

Maybe we made a mistake to start with sweet fruit, but for sure he took to solids straight away.
For first 1 1/2 month I was feeding him only pures & mush up bananas and then we slowly put some little pieces into his food. He didn't even noticed and always eat everything.
His favourite food is: apples, bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash. See the pattern? Sweet tooth.

Now Sami is almost 7 months and our usual menu is:

6:00 Formula 210ml
7:00 Breakfast (1/2 weetabix with grated apple)
9:30 Snack (grated banana & apple & melon + a little bit baby rice to make it less sweet)
10:30 Formula 210ml
12:30 Lunch ( mix vegetable with some cut on small pieces meat)
14:30 Formula 210ml
15:30 Snack (mix veg & cheese or cooked & grated egg)
17:00 Dinner (finger food - cooked broccoli, carrots, toast, cheese, potatoes)

He usually make such a mess that he goes straight to bath!

18:00 Supper (baby porridge) + last formula 210ml
18:30 Bed

Of course baby has to sleep too, so if he is asleep we just give him the food after he wakes up. If it is close to another food we just skip it.

Sometimes he eats a lot and sometimes he has only a few spoons. We just go with what he wants to eat.
We feed formula 4 times a day and there is 4 hours between. He is at the moment on 840ml. If he will not drink all of his milk we just add it up to his food. It is great for making his food more mushy.
With all of his food we offer him also water in the cup.

For snack when on the go I like to give him some baby rice cakes. It will keep him occupied for a few minutes.

I am continuing to feed him with pures, just because it is actually easier for us. I make a big batch of vegetable during a weekend, freeze it in ice cubes trays and then just pop some veg into small tupperwear every night. Next day all is prepared. I am working 3 days a week so I have to do lunch boxes for our childminder.
