Weekly baking - Carrot cake

This week I have made Carrot cake. It is actually first time I am baking it. I found it very easy and very tasty. Also cost of the ingredients is quite low.

Easter holiday in Czech

We are back! We went to Czech to visit my family. It was first time my husband experienced Czech Easter.
Firstly we were lucky that weather was beautiful. Sunny and warm. This is the field behind my parents house. Pretty isn't it?

Easter tradition

We are going to Prague for this Easter. It is just for a few days and mainly just to visit my parents and relatives. They live just outside of Prague.

No clothes buy year - update 2

It is 3 months into my no clothes buy year! I still didn't buy and more important I didn't need any. It is surprising how little clothes one really need. I still didn't wear about 1/3 of my clothes and I don't count my summer ones.
My wardrobe are not any smaller and drawers any emptier.

Kitchen clean up

I had again my cleaning bug. This time the kitchen was the victim! :-). I can't look at anything looking dirty. I am a little bit OCD with it.
Our kitchen is old and pretty used so looking "dirty" doesn't take much time.
I have first cleaned the cupboard below sink. I think that every kitchen has this cupboard not in best shape. Our is slightly falling apart and we will have to in near future buy completely new kitchen. In meanwhile cleaning is all what I can do.

My motto is that cleaning and keeping clean doesn't cost anything. I use only Ecover washing liquid on cheap Tesco e-cloth (the with one).  It does the job and it is less "toxic" for us and our cats.

Garden time!

Yesterday was another beautiful sunny day here in Surrey. We have spent it as usually tidying and gardening.  I have finally planted some seeds. I have been a little bit late this year but at least with this weather everything will grow very quickly.
This year I am planing to grow, peas,  runner beans, potatoes, tomatoes ( I have 3 different kinds of them) and some french dwarf beans too.

We have given up on radishes ( grow them 3 times last year and they never have any bulb, only really pretty leaves) spring onions (never really did anything) onions (got eaten by slugs), carrots (didn't grow big enough), parsnips ( grow only pretty leaves), and various salads (grow straight into flowers).

This is my window growing so far. I have planted some flowers too.

Cat with the hole

I wasn't writing for a while. We had very, very stressful week. My husband's dad had a heart attack. He is after operation and at home. When visiting him just hours after he was released from the hospital we have found him eating chocolate cake! So he has to be better. :-)
Then our cat Meowgi was not well. He got attacked last Friday and has been not eating for almost 2 days. Then  he got a little bit better and started eating and being like his cuddly himself when we found this big, big golf size ball in his tummy!

Weekly baking - Chocolate & raisins bake

With all of our dining room decorating I had almost no time for baking but this quick and so, so nice chocolate bake is so quick that I have squeezed it in the oven while doing Sunday dinner!

Repainting the dining room

We have been again very busy. We were repainting our dining room. Erasing 18 months of candle smoke!
Our walls were very "dirty" after we tried to wipe them dawn with sugar soap. :-(
We spend big part of Saturday removing all of our pretty glasses & staff from cabinets and then moving some lighter furniture to the living room. Then taping everything. Especially protecting our wallpaper and blinds.

Chicken with peppers

I have made a very nice Thursday dinner. Chicken with red and yellow peppers. I have them left from our wrap dinner and I didn't want them to go bad. We are always trying to use all of food what we have so we are not throwing anything away.

This receipt is the best bread and butter pudding ever! Moist, sweet and very yummy.

Good morning giant spider

Our cats woke us up at 4:30 in the morning with funny noise. They were trying to climb the bedroom wall! The wall behind our bed! Really strange. So I got up put my glasses on ( I am really blind without them or contact lenses) and had a shock. This big, really big... giant spider was literary siting next to our headboard!
